In recent years, India has emerged as the leader in offering outsourcing services to organizations around the world. Lower cost is definitely a major attraction, but by no means is cost the only reason why companies are serious about offshore software services from India. Some of the other key factors are:

1.
A booming IT industry, with IT strengths recognized all over the world. The largest English-speaking population after the USA and a vast workforce of college graduates. In most forms of Remote Services, including call centers and back office operations, manpower typically accounts for 55 to 60 percent of the total cost. In India, quality manpower combined with lower costs allow us to deliver equivalent services on a far more cost effective basis.

2.
Technical support: India graduates about 100,000 engineers each year. Many of whom can be employed in call centers for troubleshooting and providing technical support at salaries that are dramatically lower than in Europe or the US.

3.
India's telecom and physical infrastructure is approaching parity with other countries In certain ITES categories, Indian centers have achieved higher productivity levels-for example, the number of transactions per hour for back office processing, than their Western counterparts.

4.
The Government of India has recognized the potential of Remote Services and has taken positive steps by providing numerous incentives. The National IT Task Force submitted its 108 point Action Plan to promote IT in the country. The Government of India has approved the plan and is in the process of implementing it.

5.
Also, India is able to offer a 24x7 service and reduction in turnaround times by leveraging time zone differences. India's unique geographic positioning makes this possible.
